Rehugo Analysis-Visual: Cartoon

a) picture attached; artist: Jack Corbett

b) The picture is implying that a person raised by

a village, or "society", doesn't end have good results.

c) In the cartoon, the muscular man is barking practically at the other two men and insisting that

he was brought up alright by "the village". The man looks rather boorish compared to the other

two men right beside him.

d) The cartoon is implying that the man is being sarcastic about being brought up right and

indeed being brought up by society is as great as people would think it would be. The proverb "It

takes a village to raise a child" is stating that it's the society's responsibility to take care of the

next generation of kids. It is seen through the man's words that society didn't do a good job. A

kid could be easily influenced and that can be as good as it can be bad. A person should be able to

tell their neighbor's kid that they shouldn't be doing something bad instead of walking away, in

fear of getting sued for "attacking the child in a verbal way". Back in the day, it was alot simpler

meaning, a child can roam around a village knowing they wont be hurt because moral values

have been established. However, nowadays life has gotten even more complicated and moral

values hasn't been actually established everywhere. All you hear is drugs and sex on the media,

and that's definitely not setting a good example for children out there.

REHUGO 5- Observation

A. Cartoon above

B. In this cartoon, the artist is presenting the trend that the society has started to depend more on technology to socialize. Whereas people used to have oral conversations, now they are interacting through computers and other electronic devices.

C. The cartoon consists of a group of people that are sitting around fire and socializing. They are having a conversation that involves only oral stories. On the other hand, there is a group of people that are sitting around a fire but facing away from each other. This second group is socializing through the use of technology, such as computers, iPad, or any other electronic devices. The headings of "THEN" and "NOW" indicate how the time period has affected how the society interacts with each other. The "THEN" is of the time when the society had no other method of communication than orally. The "NOW" is referring to the current generation that communicates with others through technology only. This visual is effective in the using comparison and contrast. By having a time period in which society had no technology, the artist compares it with the time period now where technology is the basis of everything. The cartoon presents a trend in which the society is based off of interactions through technology. Not many people have straight verbal conversations anymore.

D. With the technology increasing each day, new devices are being introduced. The new technology has the power to do things that could not even have been imagined in the past. Although the advances in technology are making lives easier for everyone, it also has its negative effect. This effect is that people would continue to depend on technology and the usage of it so much that the interactions among each other would drastically decrease. With not many interactions, the society would become a strange term. There would be no meaning left to a society in which everyone interacts. By relying on technology, generations would forget to talk to people outside of the devices. This increase in the social network can lead to the downfall of the interactions within a society.

REHUGO Analysis-Observation:Visual

A. Cartoon Attached-Artist: Daniel Kurtzman

B. The social trend for this political cartoon refers to the current situation of Egypt. Egyptian citizens are revolting against the president, demanding for a new leader and a new government. What the cartoon displays is how Obama does little to help support the movement.

C. In this political cartoon Daniel Kurtzman conveys how President Obama reacted to the current situation in Egypt. The people of Egypt are revolting against their president and the Egyptian people demand a new government, Obama contributes little to help support the movement. The picture of Obama “liking” the Egyptian Protestors’ Page displays how Obama is really unwilling to help the revolt. “Liking” something requires no work or action taken. The picture describes Obama taking no action in helping the Egyptian people with the movement.

D. The situation of Egypt should be handled gently, because simply butting into another country’s personal problems can cause the problem to worsen. It’s better that Obama doesn’t do anything about the Egyptian movement, than causing the situation even worse. Obama has no benefits to his actions, however there are no negative aspects to it either.

REHUGO Analysis – Visual: Political Cartoon

A. Cartoon Attached – Artist: Edgar Argo

B. The cartoon comments on the trend that children believe that they are independent yet at the same are completely dependent on their parents.

C. The cartoon gives a comedic example of how children sometimes take their parents for granted. The little girl in the picture is a contradiction; she says she’s running away yet she still expects her parents to drive her to where she wants to go. It shows how children believe that their parents will always be there for them and take care of them, no matter what they do.

D. Most children never wonder if their parents will ever stop taking care of them and sometimes it will lead to children not appreciating their parents like the girl in the picture. A lot of children grow up with their parents always doing everything for them and never comprehend it until they have grown older. Children like to believe that they can do everything on their own but don’t realize just how false that belief is.

Rehugo Anaylsis: Cartoon

A. Cartoon attached above.

B. This cartoon is ironic in how it shows how social networking has changed how people interact with other people in real life. Social networking sites, such as Facebook, have become a huge influence in todays' culture. Children, teens and adults find enjoyment in the interacting with others on social networking sites.

C. This image has the couple facing away from one another, concentrated on their own computers, not interacting with one another. This is significant in that it shows how unsocial social networking sites have actually made us. Nowadays, there are people out there who are more concerned with how many Facebook friends they have and view all their posts and updates, rather than actually going out to a movie or dinner with friends. This recent technological advancement has taken its toll on people and changed our views of our "social lives."

D. I find this cartoon to be quite humerus because the situation being depicted often happens in real life. Many couples, friends, and roommates sit in the same room while both parties are participate in some sort of social networking activity. Social networking has consumed the lives of many people in today's world.

REHUGO Analysis- Visual: Political Cartoon

A. Cartoon Attached-artist: Edgar Argo

B. The societal trend being commented on in the cartoon would be that no matter what children always depend on there parents. In this cartoon a girl is shown standing with her bags in her hand asking her parents for a ride because she is running away. This cartoon shows the dependency children have on there parents.

C. The visual features parents sitting in the family room one is reading a book and the other a newspaper and a girl with her bags packed stating, "I said, I am running away.......Who's going to drive me?" This visual shows a typical family and a girl who is mad at her parents but still depends on them for a ride. Showing that children are so dependent on there parents even when they are mad. The bigger picture shows that in society today children struggle living on there own or starting there lives because they were so dependent on there parents doing everything.

D. In today's society teens are struggling moving out, going to college and starting there lives when they used to just live with there parents and worry about nothing. Especially in today's economy with not many jobs available people still depend on there parents for help. In this article a little girl is shown being mad at her parents and wanting to runaway but she still relies on her parents to help her. No matter how old or young you are we all need our parents and our family at some point in our lives and we always depend on them being there for us.

REHUGO Analysis - Observation: Family
A. Cartoon attached.

B. This cartoon is humorous because it portrays modern day “old couples”. These people really do love each other, but when you spend too much time around any one person, let’s face it, you’re going to but heads. When we are in fights or arguments we say and do things that we don’t necessarily mean. By the old man putting a scaled down replica of his wife in his model tied to the train tracks, it says I love you but in this moment I want a train to run you over. Of course he would never wish that upon her, but she may have been nagging, and when I see this it reminds me of times when my parents or my grandparents not getting along.

C. The effectiveness of this visual is that it shows that people have different ways of venting. This man ties his wife to train tracks in his model world but probably continues to love her in real life. If you were to show a group of married men and women this cartoon they would probably laugh. The woman might ask, at least my mom would, ‘why are you laughing, do you want to tie me to train tracks?’ my dad would lie and say “of coarse not honey” in a very sarcastic way. But at the end of the day, they are still married, and their feelings for each other do not change.

D. Again the man is only doing this in a model. It is more than implied that he wants his wife tied to train tracks. I think it is hilarious. I showed my brother and my dad and they both laughed hard as well. No one would really do this, unless they wanted to go to jail for murder. This would not be considered a threat unless one looked at it that way. Nothing more is implied other that the fact that he, in his mind or in his model world, wants to tie his wife to train tracks.
