REHUGO Analysis- Observation: Visual

A.Cartoon Attached- Artist: Jaybee

B.In the cartoon Jaybee is displaying how friends and family come together when one is falling from a cliff. Figuratively, Jaybee is portraying a family filled with friends or relatives that come together to help someone they care about. In the simple picture, he is showing that if someone really cares for another they will come help them no matter how far they have fallen. In other words, no matter how big the mistake made is, if one has a supportive family, they will get out of the problem in no time.

C.Jaybee embeds pathos by displaying a man in being assisted before he completely falls off the cliff. Pathos holds a great affect because there has been a time where everyone has been in a predicament therefore upon seeing the picture, the audience thinks back to a past experience where they were in trouble and with the support of their family and friends, they overcame their troubles. Jaybee is basically illustrating that with the support of a loving community, one can overcome any if not all their problems. In the picture, the man had tried something on his own and failed but end of the day his family was there to help on his feet again.

D.Everyone tries to accomplish their goals on their own but not everyone succeeds. For example, when a teenager grows up, their goal is to move out of their house and chase their dreams in the real world. If, for some reason, they fail to make a living or encounter an obstacle on their path in becoming an individual, the young adult immediately looks toward their family and friends for support. Similarly in the picture, the man encountered an obstacle and looked toward his friends and family for support. A family’s support is life long because one’s family shares their happiness and successes.
