-Brad Henry was an American politician who won a position as governor the state of Oklahoma. Apart of being a member of the Democratic Party, he wrote books and many quotes other than the one listed above.

“In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future.” -Alex Haley

- Alex Haley is an American Author who won the Pulitzer Prize in 1977. Her works were of historical fiction and depicted the struggles of African Americans.

B.

Brad Henry’s quote triggers the message of the support of a family throughout an individual’s life. As it compares family to a compass, it reminds us that family is there to lead us into the right direction in life and with their support we are able to become our greatest. Family is our inspiration; they are our motivation in conquering all we want to do such as the goals we plan to achieve at the beginning of our youth. Most importantly when we fail or fall they are always there to catch us. Family will always bring back the love and comfort when we lose courage or confidence.

Haley expresses that we all carry the legacy of our parents and even their for-fathers through us and it will carry on as a cycle for the next generations. But everything happens within the family. Everything has impact on our lives and will follow into the future. In this way family is the bridge to link ourselves with our past and our future.

C.

The first quote is relevant to today because you are able to see how families show big support to each of the members in the family. Family support can shine through things simple as being there for a graduation, pushing them to do their best in everything they do, or perhaps just being there when in times of need of comfort or a shoulder to cry on. We can recognize in families today that they are always there to cheer the other one on and help them when they are in trouble with strong support and open arms.

In the second quote it relates to the fact that in every family, the traditions, values and culture carries on even when we aren't living. For example, through the process of marriage others are welcomed into families and are acquired cultures that are not familiar with ours. Those cultures will be passed on as they have children and their children also become married. Creating families will be the link from our ancestors in the past and carry out to continue the traditions and values into the future.
