REHUGO Analysis – Universal Truths

A. “Family love is messy, clinging, and of an annoying and repetitive pattern, like bad wallpaper.” -Friedrich Nietzsche

Friedrich Nietzsche is the author of this quote. He was a 19th-century German philosopher and classical philologist. He wrote relevant texts on religion, morality, culture, philosophy and science. He knew metaphor, irony and aphorism in and out.

“If the family were a fruit, it would be an orange, a circle of sections, held together but separable - each segment distinct.” -Letty Cottin Pogrebin

The author of this quote was an American writer and journalists. In 1971 she was one of the founding editors Ms. Magazine. She was known for being a feminist and for participation in Jewish-feminist causes. She wrote the book, Three Daughters.

B. Both of these quotes relate or compare families to tangible objects.

The first quote describes family love. Love is messy; you fight with someone because you care even if it drives you to the point of insanity. Love is clingy, whether it is inseparable sisters or a child and a parent who have an extremely tight bond. Love is annoying, when you are around someone for too long, it can become annoying: kids get annoyed by their parents; sisters annoyed by their brothers; or husband against wife, bottom line we all need a little space sometimes. Love has a repetitive pattern, you have the same routine everyday, you say goodnight the same way, you do some activities together and some apart, but nothing out of the ordinary. You mom expects you home by seven everyday and you’re there, you eat dinner at six in the evening and you expect for it to be prepared, you walk your dogs at the same time everyday. The repetitive family love pattern that would remind you of bad wallpaper is always there, and there is no escaping it. It is there, in your face and until torn down and or apart it will remain.

The second quote relates family to a piece of fruit, specifically a fruit. Like an orange family is made up of many different parts but yet is still a whole. Each member of the family is unique in his own way but is still apart of a uniformed unit.

C. The quotes relate to families today; they are different but they are the same, their love for one another is crazy but is still there. They are always together, whether it being connected like a piece of fruit or clingy as in an annoying little brother. Children and teens can relate to this because they often get tired of their “so-called” boring lives and things can get messy between them and their parents. Adults can relate to this because they often want to spend time with their children and though it may not be possible, they are always together even when they are apart.

  1. Friedrich Nietzsche is the author of this quote. - I can tell this from where you wrote his name, you can leave that apr tout. Also, in your essay, click on Friedrich and tell me what happens.

The second quote relates family to a piece of fruit, specifically a fruit. Like an orange family is made up of many different parts but yet is still a whole. Each member of the family is unique in his own way but is still apart of a uniformed unit. - you could easily turn this into one sentence.
